The following are parts of window blinds:

1. Headrail. It is considered the hardware located on the very top of the window treatment where the tracks are located. The quality of the headrail’s determines the durability of the window treatments.
2. Valance. It covers the headrail from the outside. The valance generally matches the window treatment. It can be made of fabric, wood, aluminum, or vinyl.
3. Controls. The controls allow you to lift up and down the window treatment or tilt the slats of a bind to an angle position to allow more or less light to go in. Available parts can be either a want or a cord.
4. Slats. These maybe strips of wood, vinyl, aluminum, etc, that make up the blind.
5. Ladders. These are thin cords threaded through each slat. It holds the blind together.
6. Tapes. These are strips of fabric, which are one, or two inches wide used to hold a blind together. They are not threaded through the slats like ladders as the blinds are closed. They run straight down the front surface. Tapes are commonly used on wood blinds and two-inch aluminum blinds.
7. Bottom Rail: Is a heavy horizontal piece of hardware that anchors the window covering on the bottom. The bottom rail provides weighs to the window covering down and keeps it hanging straight.

Window blinds are easy to maintain. Cleaning or replacing a defective part is made available so easy as well. There are many stores out there that installs, repair or have the parts sold individually. Replacing your window blind entirely would not be necessary. So why not take those curtains out and feel the heat of the sun as it enters your window pane. Window blinds gives the soothing effect as it go through your window blinds.
